Ex-Liverpool and Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann has entered a not guilty in response to being charged with common assault in Australia.
The 45-year-old, who did not appear in court, allegedly assaulted his partner in the early hours of 21 June and was released on bail last week.
The plea was given in absentia as Mr Hamann chose not to attend court proceedings after being granted bail last week. The 45 year old is accused of assaulting his partner on 21 June.
Hamann’s lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf and the case was adjourned until 12 December.
Hamann, who won 59 caps for Germany, remains subject to bail conditions. He has reportedly been holidaying in Australia since 2008.
Hamann was a member of Liverpool’s 2005 side that won the Champion’s league.
